How your business actually runs

Seven areas, twenty-one questions, about fifteen minutes. Most owners have never written this down in one place, and the gaps are usually worth more than the answers. Answer from memory — if you have to go look something up, that is itself an answer.

Section 1 of 8
1

How work arrives

Every business has more front doors than the owner remembers.

The tell: if the honest answer to the last one is “I wouldn't,” you are in good company. It is the most common gap on this page and the cheapest one to close.
2

How it gets priced

Quoting is usually the most expensive hour in the building.

The tell: most owners can name the win rate roughly and cannot say what became of the ones that never came back. Those are usually still sitting there unanswered, which is a different problem from losing them.
3

What “done” means

The work stops long before the job does.

The tell: the gap between the invoice question and the one after it is where most of the recoverable money in a project business sits. Closeout gets done on someone's own time and nobody bills for it, then the client never hears from you again.
4

The three numbers you check

The ones you look at in a real week, however often that is.

The tell: a number you see thirty days late can only explain a decision you already made, because by then the month is spent. If all three arrive at month end, you are steering on history — and that is fixable.
5

What it all runs on

Not which tools you like. Which ones are still charging you.

The tell: “I do not know” to the subscription question is not carelessness — it is what happens when nobody owns the list. It is also the fastest money on this page.
6

How the calls get made

Every owner has a way of deciding. Most have never said it out loud.

7

What happens after

The work is finished, the invoice is paid. Then what?

The tell: a customer list you cannot reach tomorrow is not a list. It is the single most valuable thing most businesses own and cannot use.
8

Where should the read go?

Your answers get scored the moment you press the button. This is so you keep a copy.

Gaelan reads every one of these himself. No sequence, no drip, no list you have to get off later.
